Computer Name

 
To Obtain the Computer's Name:
Windows 95, 98, ME: 
Click on Start - Settings - Control Panel
  Then click on the Netowrk Icon
  Next click the tab identification
  Use the field Computer Name

  Note: you can change your computer name here also
Windows NT, 2000, XP: 
 Click on Start - Control Panel
  Then click on the system icon
  Next click the tab Computer Name 
  Use the field Full computer Name
  Note: you can also change your computer name here
Linux 
 
  Open a terminal
  type uname -n
